Aluminium Coil

Aluminium Coils — Overview

Aluminium coil is flat-rolled aluminium wound into a continuous roll rather than cut into flat sheets. For anyone running a roll-forming line, a profiling machine or a jacketing operation, coil is the only sensible format — the machine feeds itself, scrap drops, and there are no joint lines every eight feet.

Kumar Aluminium holds coil stock from ten mills in six standard widths, with slitting available for anything in between. Thickness runs from 0.25 mm, thin enough for jacketing and packaging, up to 5.00 mm for heavier profiling work.

Where coil beats sheet

Aluminium Coil Grades & Brands

Coil grades are chosen for formability first — the material has to survive being unwound, profiled and folded without cracking. The 1000, 3000 and 8000 series dominate for that reason.

6000 series — structural and machining plate

Commercially Pure

Softest and most conductive. Rolls to very thin gauges with a bright surface.

The roofing and cladding standard around 20% stronger than 1100 while still forming cleanly.

Al-Fe-Si

Rolls to thin gauge with a consistent bright surface. The default for foil stock and thin jacketing coil.

Commercial Grade

Mill-designated utility grades. Cost-effective where a certified alloy specification is not required.

Standard Coil Widths

Six widths cover most requirements. Anything else is produced by slitting — see slitting coils.

All slitting sizes available as per order requirement. If your line runs a width that is not listed, we slit to it — no need to buy wider and trim.

Aluminium Coil Thickness & Gauge Chart

Indian trade quotes coil thickness in gauge as often as in millimetres. This is the full conversion across our stocked range.

Coil weight: kg = length (m) × width (m) × thickness (mm) × 2.71. At a fixed coil weight, halving the thickness roughly doubles the running length.

Running a continuous line?

Tell us the alloy, thickness, coil width and tonnage. We confirm stock across ten mills and quote the same working day — slit to your width if the standard sizes do not fit.

What thickness of aluminium coil do you stock?

Kumar Aluminium stocks aluminium coil from 0.25 mm to 5.00 mm, equivalent to Gauge 34 down to Gauge 8. Intermediate thicknesses are usually available against order.

Standard coil widths are 1220 mm, 1000 mm, 915 mm, 762 mm, 610 mm and 457 mm. Any other width can be produced by slitting to your requirement.

3003-H14 and 3105-H14 are the usual roofing and cladding grades because they combine weather resistance with enough strength to hold profile. For lighter jacketing and insulation work, 8011-H14 and 1100-H14 are common.

Yes. All slitting sizes are available as per order requirement. Share the finished width, thickness, alloy and quantity and we will quote the slitting along with the material.

Jacketing coil is thin aluminium coil, usually 0.40 to 0.91 mm in 1100, 3003 or 8011, wrapped around insulated pipework and vessels to protect the insulation. It is often supplied with a moisture barrier on the reverse face.

Coil weight in kg equals length in metres multiplied by width in metres, multiplied by thickness in millimetres, multiplied by 2.71. For a fixed coil weight, the running length increases as thickness reduces.

It is the same material in a different form. Coil is supplied as a continuous rolled strip for machines that feed material automatically; sheet is supplied as flat cut lengths. Coil suits continuous production, sheet suits batch fabrication.
